大街道商店街

Okaido Shopping Street is a covered arcade shopping street stretching 483 meters long and 15 meters wide, connecting the northern area near Matsuyama Mitsukoshi and AEL Matsuyama to the southern Ginza Street. Across the street from Matsuyama Mitsukoshi and AEL Matsuyama lies the Matsuyama Ropeway Shopping Street, creating one of the city’s largest commercial zones. The nearest stop to the north entrance is the Iyotetsu city tram “”Okaido”” stop. Okaido Shopping Street was already bustling as a commercial district in the early Taisho era and became a fully pedestrian arcade in 1982. As the largest shopping street in Shikoku, it offers an abundance of shopping and dining options. Visitors can enjoy local gourmet specialties unique to Matsuyama, such as citrus-based desserts at “”Fruit Parlor Mishima”” and steamed buns made with yeast passed down since 1931 at “”Roken Manto Takeuchi Okaido Branch.”” The street also regularly hosts “”Furusato Sanchoku Market,”” where roadside-station-style shops sell local produce and regional specialties, making it a lively destination for tourists seeking local flavors and souvenirs.
