Fuji Lake Hotel

Fuji Lake Hotel is a hotel on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi (one of the Fuji Five Lakes) known for its hot springs and dining. With the motto “more and more kind and warm to people,” the hotel has advanced barrier-free and universal design throughout the property. You can choose from 12 room categories based on needs, including barrier-free rooms, rooms with private open-air onsen, Mt. Fuji-view rooms, and rooms with panoramic lake views. A wide range of items can be borrowed—wheeled shower chairs, wheelchairs, bath seats, bath handrails, bed guards, diaper trash bins, and more—helping guests stay comfortably. The large bath is natural hot spring water bubbling up from about 1,500 meters underground, with a sauna and jacuzzi. Private baths with a sweeping view of Lake Kawaguchi are also popular. Breakfast can be selected as either Japanese (using plenty of local ingredients) or Western (featuring traditional French breads), and the a la carte menu is well received. Signature dishes include “Torimotsu-ni” (chicken offal stew), which won a B-1 Gold Grand Prix, and their “traditional stew” made with the original recipe from the hotel’s founding—both worth trying even if you are not staying overnight. By train: JR Chuo Line via Otsuki, then Fujikyu Railway to Kawaguchiko Station; a hotel shuttle service is available from Kawaguchiko Station. By car: about 25 minutes from Ichinomiya-Misaka IC; about 80 minutes from Shin-Fuji IC or Fuji IC.
