Norikurakogen

Norikura Kogen is a highland resort area on the southeastern side of the Hida Mountains, surrounded by high peaks—some exceeding 3,000m—and popular with hikers and skiers. With activities, hot springs, sightseeing, and food, it’s so full of options that one day may not be enough. Seasonal scenery is a major draw: flowers, autumn foliage, and snowy landscapes make every season appealing. The starry sky is especially breathtaking—so dense with stars that it can be hard to identify constellations. You may even see shooting stars and the Milky Way with the naked eye, which attracts visitors seeking a sky experience impossible in cities. The area also hosts a range of seasonal events, from gentle hiking-style programs to even a full marathon. Lodging options are plentiful, so you can visit for a day trip or stay overnight and fully enjoy it. From small children to seniors, it’s considered one of Japan’s premier plateau resorts.
