Imakin Shokudo
Imakin Shokudo is a casual diner in the Uchinomaki Onsen area of Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture, famous for long lines. Popular dishes include Akaushi beef menus such as akaushi-don and akaushi hamburger steak set meals, but they also serve champon, udon, soba, and set meals like grilled young chicken with salt. The akaushi-don is especially famous: rare akaushi beef is laid across the bowl, topped with an onsen egg in the center, served with miso soup and pickles. It also comes with wasabi—an adult-level indulgence for meat lovers. If you want to avoid waiting too long, get a numbered ticket and use the time efficiently by strolling the Uchinomaki Onsen town until your turn. When you get the ticket, ask how long the wait will be before leaving. If there’s plenty of time, you could stop by a nearby day-use hot spring or visit Myogyoji Temple first. It’s a must-visit eatery when in Aso. Access: from JR Hohi Line Uchinomaki Station, take a bus and get off at Uchinomaki—right nearby.
