Benesse House
Benesse House is a museum and hotel specializing in contemporary art on Naoshima in Kagawa Prefecture. It is one of Japan’s most internationally recognized resort destinations and is also the center of Benesse Art Site Naoshima. The Naoshima Cultural Village Project / Benesse Art Site Naoshima is said to have been entirely designed by Tadao Ando, and Naoshima also has Ando Museum. The property consists of the hilltop Main Building and the Museum Wing, and the entire experience—including the scenery—is art. From the Chichu Art Museum to art installations across the whole island (especially during the Setouchi Triennale), you can immerse yourself in art to your heart’s content. Often described as the ultimate in stylish lodging, you can stay here and embark on an art-focused journey. Guests can join the Benesse House Museum Gallery Tour and Park Art Tour for free. Access: take a bus from Miyanoura Port to Tsutsuji-so, then use the free on-site Benesse Art Site Naoshima shuttle bus.
