Kawaguchiko Station

Kawaguchiko Station Building is the terminal station on the Fujikyu Railway Line in Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi, serving as a gateway to Mt. Fuji. Right in front of the station is Lake Kawaguchi, and you can also enjoy a sweeping view of Mt. Fuji. The charming mountain-lodge-style station building was renovated in 2006. Inside the station, if you look toward Platform 2, you can find rails manufactured in 1885—over 100 years old. In the station café “Gateway Fujiyama,” you can try local B-grade favorites such as “Yoshida udon” and “Shingen soft-serve.” They also sell bread, bento boxes, and onigiri, making it convenient to stock up on food and drinks—especially since convenience stores are a bit far from the station. In front of the station there is also a tourist information center and an information office for the Kawaguchiko Onsen Ryokan Association. Access: by train, transfer at JR Chuo Main Line “Otsuki Station” to the Fujikyu Railway (~60 min) and get off at “Kawaguchiko Station.” By bus: from Busta Shinjuku take the Chuo Expressway Bus (Fuji Five Lakes Line) ~100 minutes to Kawaguchiko Station. By car: via Otsuki JCT, exit at Kawaguchiko IC, then Route 137 (~10 min).
