Shuho-kaku Kosui (Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsenkyo, Tensui-no-Yu) is a spectacular inn on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi where you can enjoy Mt. Fuji views from every room and from the open-air baths. The inn’s courtyard is also an ideal spot for photographing Mt. Fuji across all four seasons. It’s well suited for special occasions such as wedding anniversaries or 60th birthday celebrations. You can enjoy Mt. Fuji not only from your room but also from the large public bath and open-air baths—an excellent way to relax and recover from daily fatigue. The women’s bath includes a steam sauna, and the men’s bath includes a sauna. At the after-bath lounge, draft beer and “Mt. Fuji’s delicious water” are offered until 19:00. The meals are carefully crafted using seasonal ingredients, and the menu changes as many as eight times a year. A recommended highlight is dishes made with “Koshu Wine Pork,” a rare pork raised by feeding it Yamanashi wine, enjoyed in shabu-shabu or hot pot. The surrounding area also offers many leisure activities such as fishing, golf, and tennis, and there are plenty of hiking and trekking courses nearby. Access to Shuho-kaku Kosui: by car, about 15 minutes from Chuo Expressway “Kawaguchiko IC” or from Fuji-Goko Road “Fujiyoshida IC.” By bus, there are direct buses to Kawaguchiko Station from Shinjuku and Tokyo. By train, take the Fujikyu Railway from “Otsuki Station” to “Kawaguchiko Station.” A free shuttle bus is available from Kawaguchiko Station between 14:30 and 19:00—call the front desk upon arrival. A retro bus also runs; get off at “Kubota Itchiku Art Museum.” The inn is within walking distance of Kawaguchiko Circular Hall, the Music Box Forest, and the Kawaguchiko Museum of Art.
