Nagasaki Bio Park
Nagasaki Bio Park is a hands-on animal zoo where you can enjoy close interaction with animals. Not only small animals, but also lemurs, squirrel monkeys, capybaras, and even large animals such as hippos and tapirs can be fed. The park also cultivates many plants that play an important role in maintaining animal ecosystems. The grounds cover 30,000 square meters; the park keeps 2,000 animals across 200 species, and cultivates 30,000 specimens across 1,000 plant varieties. Access by public transportation: a free shuttle bus runs from Hotel Lorelei (a 3-minute walk from JR Huis Ten Bosch Station), reservation required. From Nagasaki Airport, traveling via JR Huis Ten Bosch Station and using the free shuttle is generally the smoothest option. By car, exit the Nishi-Kyushu Expressway (Sasebo Road) at Sasebo Daito IC, take National Routes 205 and 202, then from Sashikata IC use the Saikai Pearl Line, exit at Ogushi IC, and continue via National Route 206; about 15 km and around 40 minutes from Sasebo Daito IC.
