Historical inn Okyakuya
Rekishinoyado Oyadoya is a long-established hot spring ryokan in Kurokawa Onsen, Kumamoto Prefecture, with roots going back to the Edo period. All 13 guest rooms are purely Japanese style, and in the nature-filled rooms you can hear the murmur of the river. The natural hot spring is 100% source-flowing and includes six baths where you can soak surrounded by nature in a nostalgic atmosphere that makes you lose track of time. In the standing bath, you hold onto a log and let the water pressure support you; in the lying bath, you truly lie down while bathing. Dinner emphasizes fresh ingredients and offers a choice among five types of kaiseki meals that include Kumamoto specialties; with a health theme, you can enjoy delicious, satisfying cuisine. Breakfast similarly features fresh, carefully prepared foods. There are children’s meals and family baths as well, making it popular with families. You can stay at Oyadoya and also use the Kurokawa Onsen bathing pass to enjoy other baths, and there are also day-use visitors. With relatively few rooms, one advantage is that you won’t run into many other guests, supporting a quiet stay. Access: about 60 minutes by bus from Aso Station.
