Kompira udon approach shop
Konpira Udon Sando Branch is an udon shop located on the approach to Kotohira-gu (Konpira-san) in Kotohira Town, Kagawa Prefecture. With its traditional udon-shop atmosphere, it’s so well-known that when people think of eating udon after climbing up and down Konpira-san, they think of Konpira Udon. Its location is extremely convenient, so even if you weren’t planning to eat udon, you may end up stopping in. Konpira-san is said to receive 4 million visitors a year, and the shop is always bustling because it’s easy for both kids and adults to enter. The building itself is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, and you can see its original appearance from well over a century ago, including the exterior. There are about 100 seats, and you can enjoy Sanuki udon. It is a self-service shop, and tempura is always freshly made. Be sure to try their authentic hand-made Sanuki udon and “shoyu-ten udon.” There is also a small waiting area outside where you can sit. Access is about a 6-minute walk from Kotoden Kotohira Station.
