Ueharaya Honten is a udon shop in Takamatsu City, known for delicious noodles and broth made daily using well water. It has a classic, old-school feel and a wide menu, operating in a self-service style. While the udon is excellent, the side-menu croquettes are especially popular for being sweet and tasty. They sell out quickly, but are often fried again soon—so it’s worth timing your visit. If there aren’t any while you’re in line, letting staff know you want a croquette may (depending on timing) help you get one sooner. Located among office buildings and close to Ritsurin Garden, the shop often has office workers lined up outside around lunchtime—entering before 12:00 is recommended. If you rent a bike near the station, you can efficiently do a udon route like Udon Baka Ichidai → Uehara Udon → Sakaeda. Access is about 20 minutes by bus from JR Takamatsu Station, or an 8-minute walk from Kotoden Ritsurin-Koenmae Station.
