Greenland
Greenland is an amusement park in Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture, and is the largest in Kyushu. It’s bustling with many tourists. Within a vast 3,000,000 m² site, there are not only the amusement park but also a golf course, pool, and hot springs—so you can enjoy an overnight stay and make a full trip of it. It’s also used as a filming location for children’s TV programs, attracting many families. The park frequently holds events, including collaborations with sentai (superhero) series and anime. Attractions range from kid-friendly rides to thrilling roller coasters that even adults find scary, plus a giant Ferris wheel—making it popular across all ages. In summer, the pool area includes nine water parks, with highlights like a 23 m-high, 60°-angle waterslide and “Jaburin Town,” where 1 ton of water drops at once. There’s also a pool for small children. You can play, stay, soak in hot springs, and even golf for a fully satisfying trip. Access: about 25 minutes from either Nansekikan IC or KikusuI IC on the Kyushu Expressway. Parking for 10,000 cars is available.
