Seto Ohashi Memorial Park

Seto Ohashi Memorial Park is a park in Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, created to commemorate the opening of the Seto Ohashi Bridge. The park includes the Seto Ohashi Memorial Museum and the Marine Dome, which hosts events. In Hamakuribayashi (the park’s landscaped area), you’ll find Konoike Pond (about 2,800 m²) at the center, a stonework sculpture called “Oni Byobu” (about 60 m in diameter and 50 m wide), a waterfall feature called “Kuguri-taki” (50 m wide with a 3 m drop), an observation area, and a traditional wooden, tiled-roof rest house called “Kokutsukitei.” The children’s area features a wide lawn with many large playground structures where kids come to play every day. The park also emphasizes fountains, including water features inspired by the Seto Ohashi suspension and cable-stayed bridges, such as the “Water Corridor” and “Heaven’s Spring.” There is also a ball-game field with a natural-grass ground suitable for soccer or rugby. The Bridge Theater is screened daily and anyone can watch. A roadside station (Michi-no-Eki) is also attached to the park. Access is about 15 minutes by car from JR Sakaide Station.
