Okasen
Oka-sen is a udon restaurant in Utazu Town, Kagawa Prefecture, in a house-like building with both table seating and floor seating. It’s famous for its “hiya-ten oroshi,” topped with two crispy shrimp tempura, shiso leaf and vegetable tempura, and grated daikon, finished by pouring a strong broth over it. The menu is very extensive, so it’s easy to get lost choosing. Unlike self-service udon shops, Oka-sen is a full-service style restaurant where you order and staff bring dishes to your table. It’s a restaurant-type udon shop with a more upscale feel, popular with families with small children and older guests; it’s also a common choice for visitors from outside Kagawa trying Sanuki udon for the first time. Oka-sen’s portions are large; since serving sizes vary greatly across Sanuki udon shops, be mindful when ordering. Oden and inari sushi are self-serve—pick them up yourself and pay at checkout. Access is about a 12-minute walk from the JR Yosan Line Utazu Station South Exit.
