Conveniently located next to Namba Station

The classroom is located very close to the station! After getting off at Namba, go up the stairs from exit 18, turn at the corner (left), and you'll be able to see the building on the left-hand side. Take the elevator up to the 6th floor, knock, and enter the door with the characters "青霄書法会."☆ It's practically connected to the station, so you won't have to worry much about rain♪ When you come inside the classroom, you'll see brushes all lined up!!

Take a brush and experience the culture firsthand!

A tradition passed down from China, calligraphy. In Japan, people have long since taken brush and ink to paper to hone their penmanship. While the practice has become less common, it's still a tradition that continues to be taught in schools. All the tools necessary like ink, inkstones, brushes, etc. will be prepared, so you don't have to bring anything! Experience the Japanese culture for yourself♪

Authentic course for beginners!!

Starting with the fundamentals of brush strokes, to practice in writing hiragana and kanji, there'll be lots to cover in this course♪ You'll receive pointers on how to get your writing looking beautiful, even if it's your first time! If there's a specific character you'd like to write, by all means ask☆ You'll be provided with a reference♪ All necessary equipment is prepared for you so you do not need to bring anything at all!

Decorate folding fans with writing!

Pick a character you'd like to write and design your own Japanese folding fan♪ A sample of the writing will be provided for reference. First, you'll be able to practice on regular calligraphy paper, and then the real thing...☆ You can take home 2 personally decorated fans as souvenirs!!

Large scale standing calligraphy♪

Write characters with a giant brush on the large 180cm×90cm paper!! Create a large scale work while standing!! A calligrapher will demonstrate and explain the process♪ Unlike normal calligraphy, where you sit down at a desk, you use your entire body. It feels completely different and the finished product has a greater impact. It's sure to be a valuable experience…☆ And of course, you can take it home with you!!
